
Heimar has been named Environmental Company of the Year 2025 at the Environmental Day hosted by the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise, held at Hilton Reykjavík Nordica on Monday, 24 November. The awards recognise companies that excel in environmental and climate initiatives and demonstrate how meaningful results can be achieved through targeted action, innovation, and responsible management.
In its statement, the jury noted that Heimar has taken decisive steps toward environmentally responsible operations and consistently prioritises actions that deliver measurable progress in sustainability.
“Heimar has implemented an environmental management system that ensures environmental considerations are integrated into all aspects of the company’s operations. With a clear vision, measurable objectives, and continuous improvement, Heimar has achieved impressive results, including an increase in environmentally certified properties, green financing, active monitoring and management of energy use, and a reduced carbon footprint. Heimar is not only keeping pace with developments but helping to lead them, demonstrating transparency, accountability, and an ambition to exceed regulatory requirements,” the jury stated.
The 2025 jury for the Environmental Awards comprised Jóna Bjarnadóttir, Director of Social and Environmental Affairs at Landsvirkjun; Elma Sif Einarsdóttir, Head of Sustainability and Business Development at Stika Solutions; and Sigríður Ósk Bjarnadóttir, Director of Environmental Affairs at Hornsteinn.
